Most days, we tend primarily to the Material side of life, thinking it’s the major part of life. Some days, however, when we least expect it, a deeper side of life emerges.
That’s what happened to two McDonald’s employees one day in Dec. They were taking and filling orders at the drive through window, when they were jolted into a different – and deeper – reality.
A customer mouthed these words: “Help me”.
The action they took to help this woman won praise from McDonald’s and from the local CA police. You can read more about this amazing event in the attached article.
They had been jolted out of a Material world, in which they took meal orders, provided those meals, then took the customers’ payments.
The were jolted into a world where people are all profoundly connected (yes, even at McDonald’s).
The late Astronaut Edgar Mitchell had a similar experience of awakening to the interconnection of all life into one great whole.
As he gazed at the Earth on his way back from the Moon, he first reflected on the Earth, thinking about all the Parts of the Earth.
Soon, it dawned on him that the Earth was really ONE organism. This was not something that he had been taught in the engineering training he had received, but he instantly knew it to be true.
He was so moved by this experience that he founded IONS – the Institute of Noetic Sciences – to explore How we know something is true.
You can choose to live only in the material world, or you can choose to live in a more Spiritual world in which we are all one. Try doing the latter, at least periodically. See what effect that has on your relationships with people and on your experience of life.
Perhaps, if enough of us acted the way these McDonald’s employees did, we would have “Heaven on Earth“.
Happy New Year!
