Have you heard about the patron at a restaurant in MI who recently left a tip of over $2,000 for the surprised waitress? [Here’s the article.]
That’s similar to the story several years ago (which we reported on) of a truck driver in Oklahoma who also left a tip of several thousand dollars.
It would be easy to write these stories off as either public shows of largess (to show off how much additional income the big tippers are earning) or as romantic attraction to the waitresses.
After all, we think we should always be looking for ways to get the most out of our money- for ourselves!
That comes in an Economy driven by people’s mentality of Getting.
But what if some of us are shifting to a Gifting Mindset?
That may be what is happening. It is what Charles Eisenstein argued for in his 2000 book Sacred Economics: Money, Gift and Society in the Age of Transition.
And/or, maybe it is another outbreak of “Heaven on Earth”. See Martin Rutte’s Book.
Be on the lookout for people operating in a Gifting Economy- or even for your own spontaneous Gifting!
