Over the years, DNA has become a powerful tool for understanding human behavior and identity. Can it be applied to organizations as well – especially work organizations?
Consider this story:
The minister of our church recently talked about the DNA of churches. First she described the DNA of another church that she had experienced. She described it as a “DNA of Lack and Mistrust.”
Then she described the DNA of our church as one of “Love and Service”.
The Love shows up in the deep relationships and support within the church. The service shows up in the high percentage of members who volunteer to help the church – and the community.
Over the past few decades, business has learned the power of Values and Culture. Perhaps DNA is another way of describing that.
What would you describe as the DNA of the company you now work for – or most recently worked for? (And what would you like to see the DNA be?)
It will be interesting to see what we learn from the responses.
